What is FLAM?

FLAM, an acronym forĀ ā€œFranƧais en Langue Maternelleā€Ā (French as a Mother Tongue), is an internationally recognized program that promotes high-quality French education.

FLAM San Diego provides French language programs for students of all backgroundsā€”whether they are native French speakers, learning French as a second language, or completely new to the language.

Beyond the classrooms, we cultivate a vibrant community where children and teens can engage in both virtual and in-person extracurricular activities, forming connections with other French-speaking youngsters during monthly gatherings ā€“ all in French!

At FLAM San Diego, we offer a diverse range of French educational programs. These include our flagship FLAM (FranƧais en Langue Maternelle) courses, tailored for students with French as their mother tongue, alongside FLS (FranƧais Langue Seconde) and FLE (FranƧais Langue ƉtrangĆØre), customized programs for students for whom French is not their first language.

Our classes are facilitated by native, certified, and passionately dedicated teachers who infuse creativity and effectiveness into their teaching methods, offering an interactive, fun, and beneficial learning experience. We conduct in-person classes in San Diego County, as well as online classes nationwide, ensuring that high-quality French education is accessible to all.

We used FLAM for our teenagers, ages 14 and 16, and the format of the courses perfectly met our expectations. The classes are held twice a week, 1 hour each on Zoom. The teenagers' teacher, Ingrid, is extremely creative and energetic in keeping her audience's attention. The content covers grammar/conjugation/vocabulary reminders as well as text discussions, play performances (very interactive, each student plays a character), and even very fun pastry workshops.

FLAM offers great value for money as a French learning solution in addition to home learning. Children also develop skills at their level, complementing what they learn at school. For the youngest, it's a real plus since kindergarten is not mandatory in the US. My daughters really like the question wheel at the beginning of the class, the visual interactive games, the crafts, and the work on stories. We've also discovered some book series we love through FLAM.
